A Nottinghamshire company that manufactures millions of springs each year has been named a “national champion for the United Kingdom”.
Advanex Europe, which has bases in Southwell and Bilborough, won the accolade at the European Business Awards.
It is the largest business competition on the continent and was set up to celebrate enterprise excellence and best practice.
Advanex manufactures precision metal components for industries including medical and pharmaceutical, aerospace, electronics and the automotive markets.
Globally, the company has 22 operations in locations such as Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China, United States, Mexico, Vietnam, Europe, India and Indonesia.
Managing director Ian Beardsmore said: “We’re very proud to be selected to represent United Kingdom as a National Champion. The European Business Awards is widely recognised as the showcase for Europe’s most dynamic companies and we are proud to be recognised at this level.”
The awards, now in its 10th year, is sponsored by accountancy firm RSM and supported by business leaders, academics and political representatives from across Europe.
Advanex Europe was chosen as one of 636 national champions across 34 countries after the first phase of judging by an independent panel. They were evaluated on the core awards values of innovation, ethics and success, and will now go through to the second stage of the competition.
It requires national champions to make a presentation video, telling their unique story and explaining their business success.
Independent judges will award the Ruban d’Honneur to the best candidate and selected companies will go on to a gala final next year.
