Nottingham City Council has secured funding through the European Social Fund and Youth Employment Initiative to deliver a programme of activities, known as Nottingham Works, to help young people who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) to re-engage with education, training and employment.
One of the key activities in the programme is the Nottingham Apprenticeship Grant. Employers can access a grant of £1,000 if they take on an unemployed or economically inactive 16-24 year old Nottingham City resident on as an apprentice between April 1st 2016 and 31st December 2017. We have 355 grants available.
All necessary documents are available on-line at http://nottinghamjobs.com/employers/nag
On receipt of the completed application forms, City Council staff will confirm that the apprentice is a City resident and that they were NEET or unemployed prior to beginning their apprenticeship. If this is the case we will send confirmation of eligibility for the grant to the employer (and the apprentice’s training provider).
After 13 weeks, we will ask the employer and the training provider to confirm that the apprentice is still in post. Upon receipt of this confirmation we will authorise payment of the grant. Employers will also be asked to provide an update on the apprentice’s employment status six months after the grant payment date.
